Baptist Fellowship Church was established in October 2005 when approximately 40 worshipers formed a fellowship to continue the public worship of Almighty God under the joint leadership of Deacon Frank Turner and Deacon Frank Hopkins. Deacon Charles and Rev. Susan Ashe graciously opened their house for weekly Bible Study and Prayer Meetings. Our first Worship Service was held on December 11, 2005 at the Greater Harrisburg YWCA with the Rev. Willie Lewis bringing the message.

On January 1, 2006 worship services were moved to Masonic Hall at 14th and Hanover Streets, with Rev. Susan Ashe as preacher. We met every 1st and 3rd Sundays. Additionally, we were blessed with the formation of a Fellowship Choir under the direction of Sister Vivian Hopkins. Deacon Robert and Sister Carolyn Jenkins offered their home for weekly choir practice.

As the Fellowship continued to search for a “church house” in which to worship, Brother Ernest Davis learned of the possibility of using St. Andrews Episcopal Church, as an interim solution. January 2007 St. Andrews opened its sanctuary and edifice for the Fellowship to use for worship, Bible Study, prayer meeting and choir practice.

In April we began to have Worship Services every Sunday; in July we held our first Family and Friends Day Service. Baptist Fellowship felt the need and sought a supply preacher to bring the message every Sunday and fulfill the duties as expected of Clergy and Pastors. Rev. Winston D. Palmore was asked to fill this role and he graciously accepted. August 7, 2007, he delivered his first sermon in this role and began teaching Bible Study. Later in the year a Constitution Committee was formed for oversight of the church. The Trustee Board was formed and the Church School was started in September. We continued to grow in Spirit, Grace and Attendance.
